Privacy Policy

TennisBirds ("we", "us") is a free app that helps tennis players find partners, courts and games nearby. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account info: your name, email address (or Apple/Google sign-in identifier), username and password hash, managed by Firebase Authentication.
- Profile info you choose to share: photo, bio, skill level (NTRP), play preferences, availability, and Instagram handle if you add one.
- Approximate location: with your permission we use your device location to show nearby players, courts and Rally Calls. Only a coarse position (rounded to roughly 1 km) is ever stored or shown to other players, never your exact location. You can use the app without location by setting your area manually.
- Content you create: messages, match results, Rally Calls, tournaments, availability slots and moment photos.
- Push token: a device token so we can send you notifications you ask for (messages, game requests, Rally Calls near you).
How we use it
- To run the app: matching you with nearby players, showing courts, delivering messages and notifications.
- To keep the community safe: reviewing reports of abusive content or behavior.
- We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
What other players can see
Your profile (name, username, photo, bio, skill level, approximate area, activity status), the content you post (moments, Rally Calls, tournaments, availability), and messages you send to them. Match results are visible to the players involved.
Service providers
TennisBirds runs on Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Cloud Functions). Court locations come from OpenStreetMap. Weather data comes from Open-Meteo. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account anytime in Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, photos, moments and check-ins.
- Location can be turned off in iOS Settings; the app keeps working with a manually chosen area.
- Notifications can be turned off in iOS Settings.
- Blocking: you can block any player; you won't see each other's content.
- For any data request, email us at the address below.
Data retention
Your data is kept while your account exists. Deleting your account removes it. Moment photos older than 90 days stop being distributed in the app.
Children
TennisBirds is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and note it in the app.
